Under the Sikh Rehat, the Five Kakars form an integral part of an initiated Sikh’s religious identity and discipline. Aviation rules concerning the Kirpan can differ by country, airport, route and destination. The Triangle Party of Punjab proposes an international dialogue seeking clear, dignified and consistent religious-accommodation procedures while respecting legitimate aviation-security requirements.

A religious article of the Sikh faith — a symbol of responsibility, justice and protection of the vulnerable. It is always worn sheathed.
Different Countries, Different Rules
- Airport-security rules are not identical worldwide.
- Rules can change according to country, destination, transit airport, airline and blade dimensions.
- A rule applicable to a domestic flight may not apply to an international or US-bound flight.
- Passengers need official, easily accessible and multilingual guidance before travelling.
- Security personnel need cultural-awareness and religious-accommodation training.
This initiative does not encourage anyone to violate national law or aviation-security rules. Its purpose is to seek lawful, respectful solutions that balance safety and religious freedom.

Propose measures such as private screening, trained officers, respectful communication, advance notification and written guidance.

Send factual, legally analysed representations to appropriate United Nations human-rights mechanisms, including relevant freedom-of-religion channels.

Publish a transparent dashboard of all meetings, letters, replies and policy progress.

Clear pre-travel guidance
Official, dated, multilingual information published where passengers can actually find it.
Respectful and private screening
A private screening option on request, without public display of articles of faith.
Properly trained security personnel
Officers trained in the meaning of the Five Kakars and in lawful accommodation procedures.
Route-specific written decisions
Where an article cannot be carried, a written reason referencing the applicable rule and route.
Appeal and complaint procedures
A published, time-bound route to review a decision or report disrespectful treatment.
